BJP's youth wing took out a protest march against the Mamata government in Howrah and was on their way to the Secretariat to protest there. Police resorted to lathi-charge and use of water cannons to disperse the protestors. During the clash, Balvinder Singh, security personnel of BJP leader Priyangu Pandey, was beaten up severely and his turban opened. Despite this, the cops continued to beat him.
