President Moon Jae-in Moon has vowed continued efforts to make South Korea a powerhouse in the digital sector and in media content.
In a meeting Monday with his top aides,... Moon welcomed news that South Korea had moved up two notches to rank eighth in this year's World Digital Competitiveness Ranking.
That ranking is issued by the International Institute for Management and Development in Switzerland.
He said this reflects South Korea's achievements in digital innovation, which the government has been focusing on.
The government's goal of becoming a digital powerhouse and bringing about a content renaissance is not something to be left for the distant future. The government will speed up these efforts. Through the digital economy initiative, we will transform Korea from an economy that follows to one that sets the pace.
Moon also expressed thanks to the South Korean people for cooperating with the quarantine rules during the five-day Chuseok holiday.
He called for continued support with another holiday upcoming on Friday Hangeul Day,... celebrating the Korean alphabet.
