China vows carbon neutrality by 2060 during one-day UN biodiversity summit

World leaders gathered virtually in New York on September 30, 2020, as the United Nations convened a summit aimed at galvanising action to protect the world’s wildlife and biodiversity. During the partly online, day-long meeting, China made a major environmental commitment to reaching carbon neutrality by the year 2060.
