China’s Wuhan moves on as global coronavirus death toll passes 1 million

More than 1 million people have died around the world from Covid-19 since the coronavirus emerged less than a year ago in the city of Wuhan in central China. But life appears to have returned to normal in the initial epicentre of the pandemic, where crowds of people, some without masks, were thronging local shopping districts on September 27, 2020, ahead of a holiday week.
