When you’re sailing along with the winds of success, you’ll often find opportunities to have fun. Specifically, when you’ve successfully ousted one of the seeded players, you are free to do so. Daria Gavrilova engaged in a light humor post with Serena Williams after she won her French Open 2020 tie against Dayana Yastremska. The 20 years old Ukrainian lost her way against Daria in the opening round of the Roland Garros. The weather in Paris is different this time. Owing to the delay due to the COVID-19 situation, players are missing the hot and humid Paris afternoon as the weather is on the colder side. Occasional rainfall and winds are causing the temperature to linger low. Playing in these conditions, the players are forced to wear covered outfits. Daria went into the match wearing an all-black attire. Winner of 23 Grand Slams, Serena Williams too played her first match in the French open 2020. Similar to the outfit of Daria, Serena was wearing an all-black outfit as well. The Australian therefore lost no time into throwing a bit of humor owing to the similarity in the two dresses.“Serena copied my outfit” the tweet read. Up against compatriot Kristie Ahn, she struggled in the first set. At one point of time, it seemed Ahn was going to pocket the first set owing to a few service breaks. However, Serena Williams held on to her fight to go all the way to the tiebreaker and clinch the first set. The second set saw Serena in her usual form. In the first half, Kristie had ample opportunities to take the set. In the second set, Serena completely dominated the show. Ramming in lethal services and returns, she clinched the second set without letting her opponent claim a game. Proceeding to the second round, she will face Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria. Daria Gavrilova had a great match as well. Unlike Serena, she showed complete domination in both the sets. Sweeping away Yastremska in straight sets, she set up her second-round clash with Canadian Eugenie Bouchard.
