Student Covid outbreaks were modelled and “entirely predictable” says government adviser - BBC News 2020
  • 4 years ago
The UK government has defended its decision to allow hundreds of thousands of students in England to return to university for the new term, despite a series of outbreaks of coronavirus on campuses.

Students in Glasgow and other parts of Scotland have also been affected.

Thousands of students have had to be confined to their rooms, but the Culture Secretary, Oliver Dowden, said it was important their studies were not sacrificed because of the virus.

A professor of infectious diseases who advises the government and has been studying the pandemic said the campus outbreaks had been modelled and shown to be “entirely predicable”.
