Uttar Pradesh may witness a mini-assembly election of sorts in the coming months if the Election Commission (EC) decides to hold bypolls to eight vacant seats in the state assembly along with the Bihar elections. Five of these eight seats fell vacant after the death of sitting members. “The Election Commission of India has to take a call about holding by-polls to the eight assembly seats. As of now, we have no information about the possible timing of the bypolls,” said a senior officer.
निर्वाचन आयोग ने शुक्रवार को बिहार विधानसभा चुनाव की तारीखों का ऐलान कर दिया. लोगों को उम्मीद थी कि आयोग बिहार के साथ ही उत्तर प्रदेश में विधानसभा उपचुनावों का भी ऐलान करेगा. इस संबंध में चुनाव आयोग ने पहले ऐलान भी किया था कि बिहार के साथ ही उपचुनाव की घोषणा होगी. लेकिन मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त सुनील अरोड़ा ने शुक्रवार को कहा कि चुनाव आयोग 29 सितंबर को देश के बाकी राज्यों में उपचुनाव की घोषणा करेगा.
