Using its superior diplomacy, China is losing its European partners.
Beijing's hopes of using Europe as a counterbalance against the United States increasingly vanished as each country faced China on a number of issues ranging from trade and human rights to Hong Kong.

After voicing threats to a senior Czech lawmaker for visiting Taiwan in early September, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi received a letter that was not very polite but it described the prestige of China in Europe. How Europe fell miserably, the New York Times reported.

In the letter, Mr. Pavel Novotny - parliamentarian and mayor of district in Prague (Czech Republic) - commented that the Chinese foreign leader's intimidation is "brazen, thoughtless, rude" and asked to sorry. "You should be ashamed," wrote the author.

That boom was not unique.

Country after country to country, China is facing growing anger over its provocative behavior and foreign policy. This is a major setback because Beijing has always viewed Europe as a pragmatic partner that can counterbalance its deteriorating relationship with the United States.

The rift is getting bigger and bigger.
