They are happy, satisfied when they perform shraadh of ancestors in the ancestral path. The ancestors are satisfied and give blessings to their family members. That is why the ancestor who has died in Pitripaksha is worshiped on the same date. On the other hand, Suhagin women who have died before their husbands, ie Suhagan, have been set for the Navami of Pitrukshak. It is also called Matranavami.

अभी पितृपक्ष चल रहा है और हर कोई अपने पितरों को तृप्त करने के लिए उनके निमित्त श्राद्ध, तर्पण व पिंडदान कर रहा है। पितृपक्ष में पितरों का श्राद्ध करने पर वे प्रसन्न होते हैं, तृप्त होते हैं। पितर तृप्त होकर अपने परिवारजनों को शुभाशीर्वाद देते हैं। इसीलिए पितृपक्ष में जिस तिथि पर जिस पूर्वज की मृत्यु हुई हो उसी तिथि पर उसका श्राद्ध किया जाता है। वहीं सुहागिन महिलाएं जो अपने पति से पहले यानी सुहागन जिनकी मृत्यु हुई हो उनके लिए पितृपक्ष की नवमी निर्धारित की गई है। इसे मातृनवमी भी कहा जाता है।
