South Korea's top semiconductor manufacturers ... Samsung Electronics and SK hynix are to suspend all trade with Chinese tech giant Huawei starting next Tuesday ... due to newly imposed U.S. sanctions.
This is expected to have a sizeable impact on the country's semiconductor industry ... as Huawei has been a significant buyer for Korea's chipmakers.

Starting next Tuesday, Samsung Electronics and SK hynix will have to stop supplying chips to Huawei, following the latest U.S. sanctions against the Chinese tech giant.
The U.S. has imposed several sanctions on the firm over its alleged ties with Chinese intelligence services.
Under the new sanctions, semiconductor companies using U.S. technology cannot sell chips to Huawei, without obtaining a license of approval.
The measure set by the U.S. Commerce Department last month will take effect from September 17th.
Huawei is one of Samsung Electronics five biggest clients ... and also accounts for about 10 percent of total sales of the country's second biggest chipmaker, SK hynix.
The upcoming sanctions will therefore affect the semiconductor industry in the short term... but industry watchers say that this is not all gloomy.
In the long-run, the sanctions are expected to lead to new opportunities.
For Samsung Electronics, it's an opportunity to gain a greater slice of the pie in the smartphone market and 5G industry.
