Consequences of the TikTok and WeChat bans on Chinese companies.
So far, the US-China trade war has not shown any signs of cooling down. On the contrary, it is becoming more and more tense, especially in the technology field.

On July 7, 2020, the US government issued two executive decrees with the target of technology corporations ByteDance and Tencent of China. The content of the ordinances states that US businesses will have to terminate all transactions with ByteDance and Tencent from September 20, 2020 onwards. The decree also included a provision that two TikTok applications of ByteDance and WeChat of Tencent will be banned from operating in the US after 45 days from the date of signing the decree.

The reason for the ban according to President Donald Trump's statement is that “TikTok and WeChat implicitly collect large amounts of personal information from users. These are data that are at risk of being used by China to exploit sensitive information about US citizens ”. For many years, Western cybersecurity experts have viewed TikTok and WeChat as disguised digital surveillance tools that the Chinese government - through its technology corporations - is trying to implement on on a global scale.
