The last two Australian media journalists working in China have been flown out of the country for their safety, after a diplomatic standoff.
The two correspondents had been warned by the Australian government to leave China last week, as tensions rise over an earlier detainment of an Australian news anchor over alleged criminal activity.
But Chinese police arrived before they could catch their flight, and told the duo they were barred from leaving China.
Australian diplomats had to negotiate with Chinese officials for days in order to pull them out.
They arrived safely in Sydney on Tuesday, but only after being questioned over a "national security case".
With the pair back in their home country, there are now zero Australian media correspondents in China, for the first time since the 1970s.
