Officials have seized 500 kilograms (1,102 lbs) of marijuana from a container truck in southern India's Kerala.

On September 6, the Thiruvananthapuram range excise officials received a tip-off about the smuggled contraband worth Rs 20 crore (USD 2,727,304).

Following this, they intercepted the bootleggers on the National Highway at Korany near Attingal in Thiruvananthapuram.

According to officials, the truck was travelling from Mysuru through Kannur and distributing the substance across the state.

Footage from the seizure show several packets of the marijuana being removed from a hidden chamber above the driver's cabin.

The state excise enforcement squad led by T Ani Kumar, Circle Inspector, Excise Enforcement and Anti Narcotic Special Squad arrested the driver and the cleaner of the truck.

The arrested are Krishna Yadav, a native of Jharkhand, and Kulwant Singh, a native of Punjab residing in Telangana.

Their vehicle was also seized by officers.
