Super typhoon Haishen hits Japan, overturning many roofs.
Typhoon Haishen today (September 6) brought heavy rain and strong winds into the southern islands of Japan, blowing many roofs off and causing power outages in many places.

According to NHK, Japan Meteorological Agency said that Typhoon Haishen has weakened but could still be the strongest storm in decades to hit the country. Weather officials warned of record strong winds, unprecedented heavy waves and heavy rain falling on Kyushu.

The Department of Meteorology said that the warning was issued many days ago for people to find shelter and store food and water.

Several rivers on the island of Kyushu, in southwestern Japan, also face the risk of overflowing.

Typhoon Haishen, which means sea god in Chinese, entered Okinawa and Kyushu earlier this morning with winds of up to 180 kilometers per hour. Typhoon Haishen's path is similar to Hurricane Maysak, which hit Japan last week.

Many hotels in Miyazaki prefecture have been fully booked due to evacuation of many people. All 101 rooms at this hill hotel are booked today. The hotel manager said that it is quite unusual to be fully booked at this time of year.
