Nine arrested in protest that closed I-5
Nine drivers were arrested and traffic is backed up on the Ship Canal Bridge after a protest in the southbound lanes and a crash in the northbound lanes.
Both incidents happened near NE 45th Street, but the southbound lanes are closed.
Trooper Rick Johnson said troopers arrested 9 drivers for blocking the freeway and are in the process of impounding 9 cars.

At 11:20 a.m., Johnson said southbound lanes of the freeway would reopen in about 15 minutes.
The backup is 2 miles southbound and 5 miles northbound.
