This is the heartwarming moment two abandoned puppies were rescued by young women who heard them crying.

Kate Abais and her cousin were on their way to a part-time job in Davao City, the Philippines when they heard the puppies inside a hole in an empty building.

The two brown puppies appeared to have been thrown inside the vacant land and were struggling to come out of their hole when they were found on August 29.

Kate said: "We live nearby, almost beside the lot. I thought I was hearing something crying inside the wall. I didn't know that there were puppies inside."

The young women who saw the frightened puppies and gently pulled them out of the hole. They believe that someone had dumped them on the desolate land and the pooches crawled into the hole for shelter.

Kate and her friend rushed home despite being late for work so they could feed and clean the rescued pups.

After a few days of caring for them, a friend of Kate asked to adopt the sibling dogs and they now live with him.

Kate said: "The dogs are cute. I don't know how anyone can do that to them. But they are home now and I'm sure they will have a happy life growing up."
