The weavers, who are facing an uproar in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's parliamentary constituency, Benaras, have gone on an indefinite strike since September 1 due to the Corona crisis and lockdown. The weavers' strike has also brought silence to the banners of the Banarasi saree. The weavers demand that the electricity bills till December be waived and the Yogi Adityanath government re-introduce the flat rate of electricity.
