A cobra was found under the bed of a sleeping man in Bargarh, eastern India, on Saturday (August 29).

According to local media, Bhuban Suna went to sleep on Friday night after locking his door. In the early morning, he felt something cold on his legs and tried to push it away.

Hearing a hissing noise, Suna stood up but saw nothing on his "charpai," a traditional bed woven with layers of plastic tapes or natural fiber.

Suna fled the room and called local snake rescuer, Bhikari Banchor, who overturned the bed to find a cobra with a raised hood, hiding amidst the plastic tape.

Footage August 29 shows the cobra being released into the wild, where it regurgitated three eggs.

Subhendu Mallik, Founder of Snake Helpline: "The cobra had probably taken shelter in Bhuban’s room from the rain after stealing his eggs. When it rains, it is common to see snakes entering homes seeking dry land. Bhuban was lucky to escape a bite."
