Rare aircraft gets stuck at narrow toll gate when being carried to Indonesian museum

A truck driver transporting a rare aircraft to a museum was left red-faced after struggling to get through a toll gate.

The Gatotkaca N250 turboprop - One of the first Indonesian-made aircraft - was being taken to the Central Museum of the Indonesian Air Force in Yogyakarta province.

But during the journey from West Java last Thursday (August 20) it was stuck at Banyumanik Toll Gate at Semarang City because the cargo was too high.

Fauzi Abdurrahman, Operations Manager of PT Trans Marga Jawa Tengah, the company managing the toll road, said their staff had to assist the truck in backing up from the toll gate to avoid damaging the aircraft.

He said: "We diverted the truck to a larger gate so that it can still pass. There was no damage to the aircraft or the toll gate."

The truck backed off and drove to another gate and crossed to a higher substation on the opposite lane to pass through.

The process of moving the plane to another toll gate took almost three hours because they were careful not to damage the aircraft or the gate.

After crossing the toll gate, the truck carrying the plane continued its journey and arrived at the museum on Friday morning (August 21).

The N250 aircraft was the pride of the Indonesian nation when it was built in 1995. It received worldwide attention and appeared at the prestigious Paris Air Show in France on 1997.

Unfortunately, the production of this aircraft had to stop after the economic crisis hit Indonesia in 1998.
