Protesters took to Belarus' Gomel on August 15 to show opposition to the controversial election win of Alexander Lukashenko.

Footage shows demonstrators flying an opposition banner up a flag pole at full mast as cheers ring out and a woman is heard saying "This is the best day of my life," in Belarusian.

The red and white flag is the country's former flag and was in use from 1991 to 1995.

The filmer explained that the crowd is shouting "Zhive Belarus," which translates as "Belarus lives."
