It's the height of the summer vacation season in Japan right now, and for a third day in a row, the country has reported more than a thousand new cases.
On Saturday, there were 1-thousand-2-hundred-36 cases, bringing the total to just under 56-thousand.
There were seven more deaths, bringing the death toll to 1-thousand-1-hundred-6.
So far Prime Minister Abe has not declared a new state of emergency, though there are more new cases now than there were in April when the first state of emergency was declared.
The pandemic has prompted Germany, meanwhile, to declare almost all of Spain a high-risk area.
Only the Canary Islands, off the coast of North Africa, are excluded.
The declaration does not mean a travel ban, but it is expected to be a blow for tourism in Spain, which normally gets millions of people visiting from Germany.
