Backstage Pass: Guess Girl Model Search

What does it take for a Malaysian to be the world’s next top model? Star2.com Exclusive went backstage at the GUESS Girl Model Search and got an “access all areas” pass to the competition, the same search that discovered Amber Chia in 2004 and turned the unknown 23-year-old small-town Perak girl into a Malaysian supermodel.
On August 19, 40 working and aspiring models gathered from all over Malaysia for a one-day elimination process that sent 25 girls packing in just six hours. The 15 who survived the first cut then went through a month-long public vote that put another 11 girls on the bus home.
The final four will still have to face eight other girls from across Southeast Asia in the grand finale in Jakarta on September 18, and that’s going to be a fierce showdown.
