Guernsey Harbour authorities admit that the chances of survival are diminishing in the hunt for Cardiff City footballer Emiliano Sala, after the plane the Argentine was aboard together with his pilot David Ibbotson disappeared in the Channel Islands on Monday.

The authorities on Thursday said they had ended the search after scouring 1,700 square miles. But they did not find any trace of the aircraft.
