Asean chair softens stance on South China Sea dispute with China

The Philippines, as new Asean chair, made no mention of China in its statement at the opening of the Asean summit in Manila on Saturday. The Philippines has been embroiled in its own dispute with China on territorial claims in the South China Sea after The Hague's Permanent Court of Arbitration ruling of voiding China's claims.
