Japan: Widespread Flooding Ensues As ‘Guerrilla’ Rainstorm Pummels Tokyo, Kanto Plains
  • 4 years ago
A "guerilla" rainstorm rolled across the Kanto Plains and caused widespread flooding on Wednesday afternoon, August 12.

The sudden burst of severe rain caused flooding in Tochigi, Saitama, Chiba, and Tokyo.

Residents were alerted of possible tornadoes, hail, and lightning strikes. This comes amid the continuing heatwave that saw temperatures soar to over 40 degrees Celcius yesterday in cities near Tokyo.

Heatstroke alerts were also issued today in many parts of the country.
