Think You Understand Food Labels? Research Shows You Might Not

While most people know whole grains are generally better for health than refined grains, decoding food labels properly still remains difficult for many Americans.
According to UPI, a new study reveals up to half of all US consumers are confused by the labeling on grain products such as cereal, bread, and crackers.
The result of such confusion is that shoppers are making fewer healthy choices.
In the study, shoppers were asked to identify healthier options, based on whole grain content.
Study co-author Prof. Parker Wilde said subjects made the wrong choice 31% of the time for bread, 37% for crackers, and 47% of the time for bread.
