More than 97,000 Kids in US Tested
Positive for COVID-19 in July The stunning statistic comes from
a report published by the
American Academy of Pediatrics and
the Children's Hospital Association. The report focused on
the last two weeks of July. The numbers equate to a
40 percent increase in child cases
in locations of the US where the report was focused. The age range of those
included in the report varied based
on how states organize data. Little is known about how children spread the virus,
as well as how it can affect them.
The youngest child known to have died from
the virus was a seven-year-old in Georgia. The report was released as
students are getting back to school,
many inviting students back
to campuses for in-person classes. Over the weekend, the U.S. surpassed
five million cases of coronavirus infections.
More than 162,000 people have died due to the virus.
