An electric delivery motorcycle burst into flames after an LPG tank that it carried had a leak.

The rider was using the electric bike to deliver gas tanks to their customers in Jakarta, Indonesia when one of the tanks exploded on August 5.

He scrambled to safety and was shaken but unhurt after the vehicle fire.

Abdillah, an eyewitness said: "Initially, the fire was small but there were several bursts of gas and the fire became bigger."

The electric vehicle caught fire while passing through Jatinegara District, East Jakarta.

Onlookers were afraid to go near the vehicle after repeated bursts of fire so the flames further spread. The other LPG tanks were also engulfed in flames after a few moments of fire.

The incident caused heavy traffic because the other vehicles could not pass as the huge fire obstructed the road.

Jakarta Fire Brigade Officer Gatot Sulaeman said fire trucks were deployed to extinguish the flamed and he confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident.

He said: "The rider managed to save himself. There were no fatalities, but the motorbike and several LPG tanks were burnt."
