Weather Experts Label 2020 Hurricane Season ‘Extremely Active’ The research team at Colorado State University (CSU) is
predicting 24 named storms before the end of the year. 12 total hurricanes and five major hurricanes
are currently expected, which is
double that of a normal season. Only 21 hurricane names are
allotted per year, with 2005 being
the only year on record to experience
an overflow with 28 named storms. CSU is also forecasting that the U.S. coast
will be hit by a Category 3 hurricane or
greater at some point in 2020. The current hurricane season
is already on record pace after
Hurricane Isaias made landfall
two weeks ahead of schedule.
