Hiroshima bomb survivors fear legacy fading as Japan marks 75th anniversary of WWII atomic attack

Japan marked 75 years since the world’s first atomic bombing with a memorial service for victims in the city of Hiroshima on August 6, 2020. Measures to control the spread of the coronavirus forced organisers to scale down the events recalling the attack by US forces during World War II. Elderly survivors of the 1945 bombing said they fear the world will forget about their legacy, and lessons about the horrors of nuclear war, once they are gone.
