Intense rain accompanied by strong winds lashed Mumbai for a second consecutive day on August 5 and uprooted hundreds of trees across the city, submerged vast areas and also resulted in the collapse of buildings on Wednesday. IMD has predicted that the heavy rainfall that has batter Mumbai over the past couple of days will continue even on Thursday.
