Trapped humpback whale saved from fishing nets
  • 4 years ago
This is the moment a ranger rescues a humpback whale that is trapped in fishing nets close to the shore. The humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) was saved by rangers of the Galera San Francisco Marine Reserve at Camarones Beach in the municipality of Esmeraldas in the north-western Ecuadorian province of the same name. The whale, around eight metres (26 feet) long, had its pectoral flipper and caudal tangled in a fishing net and was unable to move properly.
