A kitten was rescued after being chased into a car engine by stray dogs in Chonburi, eastern Thailand.

Local teacher Wallapa Marod, 32, drove her car to school but had to stop after she heard a meow sound.

She returned home and checked in the car engine where she found the kitten stuck inside so she called the rescue service for help.

Footage shows the team opening the hood where they found the kitten hiding inside before they grabbed it and slowly pulled it out of the engine.

The rescuer said the kitten is still small and it helps the catching to be easier.

He said: "The kitten was scared and tried to escape but luckily that it was a small kitten so I could grab it easily."

The teacher, Wallapa, said the kitten might have been chased by a dog but she will adopt and care for it.

She said: "There are many stray dogs in my house area and they are sometimes fierce.

"The kitten might have been frightened and tries to escape into the car engine but became stuck, so I think I will adopt it to protect it from the dogs."
