Foods You Can Eat Past Their Expiration Date
  • 4 years ago
It's a common misconception that the date printed on packaged food is a firm deadline for when you should toss it.
But Business Insider says that when it comes to some food items, you can oftentimes disregard the date on the package.
Dry, boxed pasta can be kept for one to two years past its printed date.
Unopened, breakfast cereal lasts six to eight months past the date on the box.
Eggs can be used within three to five weeks of purchasing them.
Raw meat and poultry keep long past their sell-by date if they're frozen.
Raw fish also lasts much longer in the freezer.
Leafy greens, including bagged salads, can be revived with ice water if they begin to wilt.
Milk can be kept five days or more past its printed date.
