Racecar bursts into flames after accelerating on starting line in Thailand

A racecar suffered an embarrassing start - bursting into flames seconds after accelerating.

The vehicle had just pulled away from the start line when the engine failed at the Bangkok Drag Avenue in Thailand on February 22.

Shocking footage shows the explosion followed by flames ripping through the heavily modified sedan.

Event staff rushed to the car as the driver scrambled from behind the wheel to avoid being hurt in the fire. They used foam extinguishers to stop the blaze in under a minute.

The MC said luckily no one was harmed by the fire. He says in the video: "This accident can sometimes happen, so we always need to be prepared for every unexpected situation."

The racing fail was recorded by the SPEC Fashion and Cars Magazine team.
