Elderly rescue dog helps owner with groceries for the final time

This is the emotional moment a 15-year-old labrador helped his San Diego owners with the groceries for the final time.

Footage from June 3 shows the senior dog - named Boston - carrying a bag of vegetables into the house, where he is rewarded with a shot of whipped cream.

Boston is seen walking with a limp after suffering from arthritis - but that didn't stop him from helping out the family.

The filmer, Adam Wilson, told Newsflare: "This is Boston the English Lab bringing in groceries for the final time at the age of 15.

"Ever since he was a young rescue, he decided he would help with the chore of bringing in Costco groceries.

"One day he just decided he would help.

"No training was required as he just wanted to help after watching us do it.

"This video was taken in his final days.

"Even though he was hurting from arthritis he would still help out for just a squirt of Reddi-wip whipped cream or a small kettle chip.

"He passed away recently but everyone still loves his amazing talent.

"Originally his thick and strong build could bring in two-three gallons of milk by putting them in a bag and spreading the handle so that he had a good grip but as the years went on the objects got lighter and lighter.

"He was a rescue who was mixed up with another dog that we agreed to adopt and when the pound realized their mistake they called us and told us he was a bad dog that was meant to be put down the next day.

"What a great 'mistake' he was as he was the kindest most loving dog that anyone could ask for."
