Following a surge of infections in Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Colombia and Argentina, the number of coronavirus cases in Latin America surpassed the combined figure for infections in the US and Canada on July 26, 2020. With more than 4,327,000 cases, Latin America is now the region worst-affected by the pandemic.
