West Bengal goes into bi-weekly lockdown in view of surge in coronavirus cases
  • 4 years ago
West Bengal on Thursday was put under a complete lockdown to contain the spread of rising coronavirus cases in the state. Life across the state came to a standstill as all shops were shut and all modes of transport went off the road as part of Mamata Banerjee government's plan to clamp restrictions two days a week.

The extension of bi-weekly lockdown in the state was taken in the wake of community transmission of coronavirus in some parts of West Bengal.

The state's Covid tally has reached 49,321 after 2,291 fresh cases were reported on Wednesday, the health department said. For more details about the lockdown in West Bengal, watch the full video.
