White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany addressed the public Thursday on a range of issues, including the administration’s response to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Asked about U.S. President Donald Trump’s failure to continually address his government’s response to the pandemic at public media events, McEnany stressed that the coronavirus is a “top priority” of the administration.

In addition to touting the rate and quantity of COVID-19 testing done in the U.S., McEnany said the Trump administration wants to see schools reopen as scheduled, arguing that “science should not stand in the way” of facilities opening their doors to students, in the Trump administration's opinion.

She also addressed recent reporting that COVID-19 data collected at hospitals would now be sent to a private technology firm, rather than the Centers for Disease Control, stating that the move was meant to create more accurate data collection and “not to take data away” from the CDC.

McEnany also addressed Wednesday’s Twitter hack, saying that the president’s account “was not jeopardized” during the attack.
