Footage shows officials spraying sanitizing liquid on classrooms after schools in the Philippines re-opened following the coronavirus lockdown.

The Santo Nino Senior High School in Paranaque City in the metro Manila area began the Covid-19 disinfecting measures on July 10.

Christopher Magsila captured the video while doing a sanitation drive with his colleague.

He said: "We know that hygiene and cleanliness are important to deter the spread of the virus, therefore we conducted clean up and internal sanitation of the schools for the protection of pupils and employees.''

The total number of confirmed cases in the country rose to 56,259 as of Sunday, July 12, with a growing number of deaths now reaching 1,534.
