Chinese president Xi Jinping has ordered an all-out rescue and relief operation as heavy downpours and flooding has killed over 100 people in the south of the country.
President Xi said local governments have to fulfill their responsibilities, and urged the army to actively participate in the efforts.
Flooding has affected over 38 million people in 27 provinces, forcing the Chinese government to raise its alert to its second highest level.
At least 141 people have died or are missing and two-point-two million have been forced from their homes.
Chinese state media says the immediate economic loss is estimated to reach a near 12 billion U.S. dollars.
