Pandemic: Infections Are Running Rampant, But Deaths Are Not. Why?
As lockdown restrictions ease across the US, cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 are skyrocketing.
However, CNN reports the surge in cases hasn't been accompanied by a surge in deaths. Why?
One probable reason could be that it may be too soon into the new wave of the virus for its victims to actually pass.
Also, more young people could be infected this time around and they have a much lower risk of death.
It's also possible the current patients may have fewer comorbid conditions than those in March and April.
Finally, doctors do know a lot more now about how to treat the illness, and testing is more widely available.
But one thing's for sure: the virus has not weakened by one iota. Stay safe!
