A crowd of protestors try to topple the statue of former US president Andrew Jackson near the White House as police clash with protesters to break up new demonstrations that erupted in Washington. Jackson, in office from 1829 to 1837, owned more than 500 slaves over his lifetime and was a key figure in the forced relocation of nearly 100,000 Native Americans, otherwise known as the Trail of Tears.
