Firefighters are struggling to contain the flames, which are consuming ponderosa pine, piñon and juniper trees in the Tonto National Forest.
Sparked by a burning vehicle, it's the largest of 37 fires burning in the US at 114,941 acres and is already the seventh-largest in Arizona history.
