Sunrisers Hyderabad clinched the 2016 IPL title by beating Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final. The Hyderabad unit sucessfully defended 209 runs even after fifties from Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli for RCB. Chris Gayle answered with a superb knock of his own, however, scoring 76 from 38 to keep Bangalore's chase alive. Virat Kohli also added a half-century, but Hyderabad's bowlers took control of the match in the latter overs and defended their score of 208 for seven.
