Protesters gather in Indonesia demanding longer sentences for racist offences
  • 4 years ago
Hundreds of protesters gathered in Sorong on June 17 to demand extended sentences for racist offences.

Demonstrators asked law enforcers to act fairly in handling cases of racism that happened to students in Surabaya in August 2019.

The demonstrators believe the initial five and seven month sentences given were too mild. Officials later extended the sentences to between five and 17 years.
