Still, despite the success, the team had to go about their due diligence in the offseason and look into the possibility of acquiring free-agent Tom Brady. Garoppolo spent more than three years as Brady's backup in New England to begin his career.

Ultimately San Francisco didn't land Brady, but that doesn't stop Garoppolo from having to answer questions about potentially being replaced.
