Footage shows heavy downpours battering houses in Manila City, the Philippines today (June 16) as the country officially enters the rainy season.

Resident Denver Pascual said he's hoping that the rain does not cause too much damage or flooding.

He said: "I'm glad that the sweaty evenings are over, but I am still worried about commuting to work during a storm especially there is not much bus and jeep travelling due to the quarantine."

Public transportation remains at half-capacity until the coronavirus quarantine measure, which has been extended for another 15 days until June 30, is lifted.

Thunderstorm advisories has been issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa said in a statement: "The public and all concerned agencies are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts of the rainy season."
