Six out of the 18 standing committee chairs for the 21st National Assembly have been elected.
Six ruling Democratic Party lawmakers have been elected, with the most anticipated Judiciary Committee chair being allocated to the four-term lawmaker Yun Ho-jung.
Speaker Park Byung-seug... pushed through with the plenary session despite strong opposition from the United Future Party.
Rival parties had been at odds over who would take the head of the Judiciary Committee -- which has the final say on every bill being passed.
The United Future Party boycotted the plenary session, calling it a "parliamentary dictatorship".
The main opposition bloc's floor leader Joo Ho-young... vowed to step down.
