Rangoli is an art originated from the Indian subcontinent which is made by colourful sand powders, rice flour, coloured rice, flowers etc. with different shapes and patterns. It is famous in all the parts of India and carry different names like Kolam, Muggulu, Alpana, Rangoli ,Chowk poorna, Chaook, Muruja, Mandana ,sand art and many more.

This art is being followed and believed to be made in India from the ancient times for good fortune, generosity and feel strength. Every pattern has their specific name like Pulli,Sikku, Free hand dotted etc. With passing time, it is becoming a forgotten art and on the verge of extinction due to the lack of awareness and knowledge of people about this creative beautiful form of art.
